This premium lavender (Lavendula angustifolia formerly officinalis) hydrosol is calming and cooling. Whereas Lemon balm is the warm Spring sun, Lavender is the cool breeze on an irritatingly hot day, the cool water flowing over a blistering burn, the refreshing stream you plunge your hot and tired feet into. This first run of lavender hydrosol has a touch of rose contained within it, as Dr. Welliver felt they would combine well to cool and tighten tissues. According to Dr. Jane Buckle, author of Clinical Aromatherapy, “Lavender appears to have cell-regenerating action, is soothing and sedative…has a topical analgesic action…is also antibacterial and moderately antifungal.” For these reasons it is commonly used for burns, sunburns, wounds (including bedsores), skin irritations and eczema. It is a great antispasmodic and mucolytic as well, making a wonderful spray for asthma or cough. Lavender is a supreme calmative and has been used for anxiety of every type, from anxiety associated with medical procedures or events, dementia related anxiety, test anxiety, insomnia related to anxiety, to free floating anxiety. It can be used safely in children, immunosuppressed and older patients. Also helpful in a tension related headache.
